Check out our fun Q&A interview with Dawn of Walkin & Waggin Pet Concierge and her experience so far in the Pet Industry:
How long have you been in the Pet Industry?
20+ years turned into a Business owner 2 years ago
What drew you to the Pet Industry?
We all have the same mantra: “We LOVE animals”!
The best thing about your experience so far?
The most rewarding experience is: That I get up everyday going to work loving what I do
Are you a solo petrepreneur or do you have employees?
If you could change/add/create ONE thing in the pet industry what would that be?
Working together not against each other – Anyone who imagines they can work alone winds up surrounded by nothing but rivals, without companions. The fact is, no one ascends alone.
What is the most interesting thing about your business or rescue group?
That animals have taught me so many life lessons, they are some of the best teachers I’ve had and changed my life in so many good ways. Always reminding me of what is important in life.
Do you set goals for you business? Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly?
Do you remember the last time you had a weekend off?
Do you regularly take vacations?
Your biggest complaint about the industry?
Individual commitment to a group effort — that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.
How many pets did you treat last week? Or pet clients did you cater too?
What is your advice to a young person joining the pet industry?
Love what you do and you will never work a day in your life
Your favorite thing about your customers (i.e. pet parents).
I am thankful for this amazing opportunity to work with such a diverse clientele
What is the best thing you have done for your business to help you grow?
Thinking outside of the box
When did you realize that this industry was more fun/rewarding/compassionate (add your own!) than a previous industry you may have worked in?
I think love of animals is ingrained in my DNA. So I took a leap of faith and pursued my passion of working with animals and running my own business.
If you weren’t in the pet industry – what other profession would you love to do?
I’m a strong animal advocate & a true “Animal Lover Extraordinaire”. I can’t see myself in any other profession
What is your favorite cocktail of choice?
Favorite book/movie/TV show?
Whatever happen to Baby Jane/ Betty Davis & Joan Crawford
Most amazing place you have been to on planet earth?
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
When you were a kid, and someone asked, what did you want to be when you grow up? What was your answer?
If you asked me then or asked me now, answer hasn’t changed – Save all the animals.
Your favorite or most inspirational quote?
Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none. William Shakespeare
What is your: Dog/horse/cat/bird/lizard/bunny Breed of choice?
Narrowing it down is impossible – I think love of animals is ingrained in my DNA. In fact, if it was up to me everyone I encounter would have a wet nose and a wiggly butt!

Gardening, Interior Designing, Reading & Meditation

3 canine & 1 feline (Rescued)
